A Trademark is born
Behold it’s glory!®
It feels like a win at the Oscars… but there is a lot more to the story.
The Event Bridge® logo now has the same Trademark protections as the Event Bridge® name.
It is another step on Event Bridge’s journey within the Salesforce ecosystem.
Gaining a Trademark
The Trademark process is not that difficult, but there are a lot of traps for the unwary. That is why we employed the services of Michelle Ward of Indelible IP Limited.
Michelle helped me through, strike that, did the application process. Apart from an interesting discussion about what I wanted to protect and which areas I needed protection in, Michelle did the process. Not only that, but she kept me informed throughout the process.
If you want to know what protections you gain and how to USE a trademark, you need to speak with Michelle.
How did I find the amazing Michelle? Well, through Evo Business networking.
However, in gaining this trademark I would like to thank Pauline who helped design the logo: Pauline Brown of Blueice Graphic Design
So, you can see it was a team effort.
While we have a number of customers who directly use Event Bridge, it is soon going to be listed on the Salesforce AppExchange. Just a few more weeks!
What does Eventbridge® do? Well, it effortlessly connects Eventbrite to Salesforce. You can find out more about it on its website.
Finding support can be difficult… so that is why we have launched our support portal.
The idea is that people will be able to help themselves before checking in with us. For many people, this ‘instant result’ saves them a load of time.
However, there will still be many times when you do need our personal support, so, for our customers, it is possible to raise new cases.
But… won’t that mean learning ANOTHER username and password? Fortunately, that answer is ‘no’.
As long as you have your own Salesforce instance and we have you as a contact in our system then you don’t need a password at all.
(For those of our customers who do not have Salesforce, we can still set you up, but you will need a username/password.)
The portal is at support.cloud-genius.com
Here is a video on how to access the Knowledge articles:

Here is one on how to log in (without a password), raise and monitor a case.
This is a new venture… so while we have been having our techies check everything out… I am sure you will find some things that could be improved. I would love to hear from you!
I was always told to carry people on the journey…
So we are starting a new journey with Salesforce. Over the years we have gathered a lot of useful knowledge. A lot of this is for us to use internally – within the company, but we also have a lot of information that is good for questions about Salesforce and Event Bridge.
So we now have a knowledge portal: https://cloudgeniusltd.force.com/support/s/
At the moment, it lets folk find out information. In the near future it will let people submit cases and track progress.
We are getting very excited, as it should help us to serve our customers better.
Of course, the other part of implementing this ourselves is so that we can help our customers implement it to help out their organisations.
How do you learn best?
There used to be a trope that some people were visual learners, some people learned best by hearing, some people learned best by reading, while others were kinaesthetic – they learned best by doing. While that seemed like a sensible set of categories, modern psychology has entirely debunked the theory!
It turns out that we all learn best from a mixture of learning styles.
So here are some resources…
It has long been known that Salesforce has an amazing set of resources available. They are called ‘Trailhead’. Even better they are free of charge for anyone. If you want to learn how to write a report, or train yourself up as a Systems Admin, all the resources are there. There are even ‘soft skills’ such as change management and the like.
It really is great and you get (virtual) badges.
People are social – learn with others
Even with all these resources, the majority of people that I speak with do not get to use them. Why? Well, most people don’t like studying on their own. They like to do things together. They like to ask questions of an instructor.
It is for this reason that I started ‘Lunch and Learn’. It is a high-quality, 45 minute time for you to ‘sharpen the saw’. In other words get your skills up-to-date, so that you can get the things you need to do done more easily.
I have put a price on the training… £5. However, if you read this article you can get the September training for only £0. That’s right, for free!
Even better, the code to get the free tickets is easy to remember: salesforce
Just go to the Cloud Genius website: https://cloud-genius.com and on the booking form click ‘Enter promo code’ and use the code above.
See you then! Next course is on 16 Sept 2021.
One of the mind-games that I play as a business owner is that I am not good enough. That in many ways I have failed each and every client at some point in time. So, asking for a testimonial is only asking for trouble.
This week, I held a ‘Lunch and Learn’. My brilliant business advisor, Kim Jones of HGKC, had suggested this as a way to promote our Event Bridge service. So I sent out the invitations and monitored the bookings on Eventbrite (of course I was using Event Bridge to do this!) Some of the attendees were my existing clients. Some of the attendees were contacts of contacts and some of them were new people who had heard about what we were doing through advertising.
There were several lessons from this:
1) There are clients who are not only willing to attend my events, but are also willing to promote me to prospects
2) I really like my clients and having them all in the same (virtual) room was really enjoyable
3) Yes, we know that word of mouth is the best marketing… but there is nothing to beat that sense of pride when someone you have done work for is willing to put their reputation on the line to promote you to someone else.
So, thank you all!
So, what I have I gained from this?
Well, firstly, I have some great collateral to help explain what I do – both a slide deck and a video.
I have discovered something about why my clients like me.
I have some hot new prospects.
I have renewed enthusiasm to develop the company. After all, if I can create something that gives people joy, promotes the work of charities and, perhaps, changes the world to be a better place… who wouldn’t want that?
My message to business owners is – get out of your own way and bring your clients together. It is easier than ever with virtual meetings. It gives you a chance to educate them about you and your services.
My message to myself is – this was enjoyable. Perhaps I should run more educational sessions. I enjoy it and, to use an over-used phrase, ‘all ships rise on the tide’.
I recently went to an event where the communication was appalling!
There were baggage checks that were only disclosed when you got the the front of the hour-long queue.
There was no program.
Even after I had left, a quarter of the way through in frustration… I was still receiving emails as if I were there.
This was at a big event, in a prestigious location. It left me feeling as if I were being treated like cattle.
How about, they had linked up their ticketing system to their messaging system? So that based on my attendance they could send me different messages?
It’s not only possible, it is inexpensive and easy!
Our Event Bridge solution does it quickly and easily. We can have you set up in an hour. Your attendance data in Eventbrite will seamlessly come over into your Salesforce account. It’s so easy!
Why not call for a demonstration? or check out our dedicated website on Event Bridge.
Not only will it give you the ability to treat your customers like royalty, it will also help you gain a profile of their attendance over time, it also cleans the data!
